It was brought up at the field that certain individuals should do certain things and this individual pointed out that the CD should do certain tasks in preparation for the contest.
I stated that if a person wishes to compete, they could come prepared and one of those things that is needed is to print out a scoresheet.
I recalled something Ed had told me. A CD's responsibility is to manage the on goings of a contest, not do all the work. They should delegate responsibility to others and the CD should make sure the work gets done.
I would like, in preparation for Aug 9th club contest, to allow the club to decide which way we will go.
Please decide whether you would like:
1. each pilot to be responsible for their own scoresheet
2. Have a single person come with sufficient sheets for all who attend
I will cast my vote for everyone come with their own. The reason is how do you know how many to make? If you plan on coming, go to
www.lisf.org/DLG_files/LISF_HLG_generic_contest_sheet.rtf
And print out your own. Do this when you plug tour batteries in and prep your planes etc. for the next day.
Should we also pass off the responsibility for scoring to someone? Why not? We can , on field assign someone to plug the data into the available scoresheet (http://www.lisf.org/DLG_files/LISF_HLG_SCORE_June_08.xls ) or do it by whatever method they wish and pass the results to Rob when done (in a format amicable to Rob). I would like everyone in attendance to be able to run the show, especially in case that Phil, Dan, myself or one of the other regular DLG pilot's cannot be there.
I do not want a contest to not go on for lack of attendance by certain members.
Please do not take this as me shrugging my responsibility but rather it is my attempt to ensure that the contest goes on as scheduled and that everyone in attendance has a great time. It is also to set a precident so that if anyone else takes over the CD position, they will be adequately prepared.
So, if it is decided that one guy be responsible for scoresheets, I would like to take a volunteer for August to make them and another volunteer to do the scoring.
Or
We can have everyone be responsible for themselves and we'll get someone, maybe me, to do the scoring?
Thanks
Frank
P.S. August is great!!! Two weekends of DLG competition! ESL the first weekend followed by our club contest the following!!
