that makes it better.. now i can see how 2 motor runs can equal no landing points. the cd can base the flight time on current conditions.

mike.. thanks for the compliment! i bought it online from amazon.com.. it was 10 bucks for the roll shipped to my door... the roll itself was only like 4 bucks.. then shipping charges.. not sure if any store sells it locally. if you buy some.. talk to phil A first, i think he was interested in buying some too... maybe he'll split the shipping.. matter of fact, i'll take another roll too... so that would be 3 of us to split the shipping ... i got the 3/4 inch tape.. not the 1/2 inch.. i like the extra 1/4 inch for good measure! ;D

i'm running a geared brushless motor on my easy glider... super powerful.. even if i get it as high as i can see, 10 min can be challenging with that plane... or maybe it's just the pilot!

OK.. in order to add pics to your post, it's not as simple as it is on rcgroups or other forums. in this tutorial i'll explain how to go about adding pics to your posts. since we cannot upload pics via the message board, you have to use HTML and link to a picture somewhere on the web. you do this by inserting this code: <img> your url </img> in order for me to show you the code, i couldn't actually write out the html.. in your code you will replace the < > with [ ] for it to work.... so remember that < is equal to [ and > is equal to ]. now.. if you don't have webspace and would like to still post an image on the forums.. you can send them to me and i'll upload them to the lisf webspace for you to link to. here's an example of a pic and then under it is what the code i would type in to make it appear. <img> www.lisf.org/message_board_images/leading_edges/1.jpg </img> note that "www.lisf.org/message_board_images" will always be the same for pics on our server. what comes after that is what will change.. "leading_edges" is the directory i made to hold the pics for that post and "1.jpg" is the name of the file i posted. lets say ed wants to post a build thread on a easy glider... he'd collect all his photos, name them 1.jpeg, 2.jpeg, 3.jpeg and so on... he would then email me these photos. i would upload them to the lisf webspace and then email him back the directory which i posted them to... in this case i'd call the directory "easy_glider" his links would read like this: <img> www.lisf.org/message_board_images/easy_glider/1.jpg </img> if he gave me 10 images, the only thing he'd need to change is the 1.jpg to 2.jpeg or 5.jpeg depending on which pic he wanted to display. i know this isn't easy for everyone.. but if this forum starts to take off.. we can petition to upgrade to the paid message boards in which uploading images will be alot more like rcgroups for now.. if you like you can just link to a snapfish album or you can give this tutorial a try. good luck! -rob

ok... so i've been making a new super gee II wing and it came time to do my leading edges on the plane... the last wing i made, i really struggled with the 3m super 77 spray method to get the leading edge fabric on my cores... i found it VERY messy and rushed. i also found that you didn't have much room for mistakes. i think i went through like 5 strips of fabric before i got it to work. So, this time around i decided to go a different route. i ordered a roll of the 3m 924 transfer tape. this stuff is COOL. it's basically the glue only backed by kraft paper. the bond is SUPER Strong and it's very easy to work with... here are the steps i did for doing my leading edge fabric. 1) measure how much fabric i'll need to cover the whole leading edge 2) roll out that much of the transfer tape and just stick it onto the kevlar on the bias. 3) i cut out the strips with kevlar attached 4) i added a layer of glass to the kevlar by spraying the kevlar with a mist of super77 spray mount and then sticking it to my fiberglass and cutting it out 5) i then peeled back the kraft paper backing and starting at the root applied the fabric strip to the leading edge. i only peeled back a little of the kraft paper at a time as to not get into a huge mess with the tape. with this process i was able to take my time with the leading edge fabric and in the end the results came out GREAT! no wrinkles, no sticky fingers, and i nailed it the first time! here are some pics.. note that some of the pics are borrowed as i didn't photograph everything. -rob

the only downside is see with this is that a 10 min flight is pretty ambitious for a lot of our electric planes in the club. it be a shame to eliminate landing points for anyone who can't make the 10 min flight without an additional motor run. i know for me and my easy glider 10 min is tough. with this format unless i have 9min on the watch it'd be a no brainer to run the motor again... maybe landing points should be given across the board, with an added bonus to folks who didn't have to relight?? just food for thought...
